Ok so by now you probably are sick of playing chords but there is one more chord I want to teach you right now. Its called E. Here it is:

A Chord

Here is a simple a chord:

Use your first, second and third finger to play the frets. Later on you can simply bar it with your pointer finger. Don't play the open E. Try to block it out with your thumb or you can just try not to hit it. Pay attention to this chord because we will be using it later on.

C chord

Now make sure you have your thumb up on the side of the neck, close enough for it to deafan the string closest to you. You also want the palm of your hand on the bottom of the neck.

G chord

This chord is also pretty basic, but is a staple in songs. It needs to be learned if you want to play some good songs.

Em Chord

Now that you have learned a song and some notes, its time to learn your first chord. Here is a good chord to start with it is called the Em chord. Here it is tabbed out once:

The 0's of course stand for open strings. Practice fingering this because it is a very basic chord that needs to be learned.

By the way, when you play songs on the guitar try not to lift your fingers too high off the frets. This will make it hard for you to play very fast songs.

Tab Reading, Finger Exercise

Now that you know all the strings its time to learn tabs! Yeah! Here is a tab.

The up above tab is called the finger exercise. It is read e, f , f#, g, f#, f, and e for the first line. For the first line 0 stands for the open fret, 1 for the first and etc. The first line is labeled high e for the first string. The numbers indicate which fret to put your finger on. The lines indicate the string. You play the frets in the order they appear. This is basic tab reading. Doing this exercise is key to getting used to the strings. Pluck the strings with your finger or a pick. Play up to the fourth fret on each string and keep moving up until you reach to 6th string. Play this once a day to keep your fingers flexed. It pays off in a long run.

6th String

OK so this is the final string. It is called E. The notes on this string are E for open, F for first fret, and G for third fret. This is pretty simple stuff that you must learn. Remember that.

5th string

The fifth string is named A. The notes in first position are A for open, B for second fret, and C for third fret. This stuff is important stuff. Remember it!

4th String

OK, the 4th string is the next in line. The open not for this string is D. Then, the second fret is E. Finally, the 3rd fret note is F.

3rd String

OK so the 3rd string is the 4th closest to your chest and the one next to B. The notes on the string in first position are G for open, G# for fret one, A for fret 2, and A# for fret three. Play these notes and the ones on the strings we taught you and memorize them.

2nd String

The second string, the string that is to the left of the 1st string (duh) is B open. 1st fret is high C, then high C sharp, then high D. You've probably noticed that string's notes go in a certain order so far. That changes eventually, so be careful.

1st String

If you are using a right handed guitar, this string is the farthest from you on the neck. The open note (when you have no fingers on the string"s frets, and you play that string) is high E. If you put your pointer finger on the first fret on that string and play it, that note is high F. Let that finger go, and put your ring finger on the 3rd fret and play it. That is high G. The fret in between is high F sharp, or high G flat.
